ABSTRACT

To explore the feasibility of applying magnetic stimulation technology to the movement control of animal robots, the influence of coil radius, number of turns and other factors on the intensity, depth and focus of magnetic stimulation was simulated and analyzed for robot pigeons. The coil design scheme was proposed. The coil was placed on the head and one of the legs of the pigeon, and the leg electromyography (EMG) was recorded when magnetic stimulation was performed. Results showed that the EMG was significantly strengthened during magnetic stimulation. With the reduction of the output frequency of the magnetic stimulation system, the output current was increased and the EMG was enhanced accordingly. Compared with the brain magnetic stimulation, sciatic nerve stimulation produced a more significant EMG enhancement response. This indicated that the magnetic stimulation system could effectively modulate the functions of brain and peripheral nerves by driving the coil. This study provides theoretical and experimental guidance for the subsequent optimization and improvement of practical coils, and lays a preliminary theoretical and experimental foundation for the implementation of magnetic stimulation motion control of animal robots.

ABSTRACT

The present study detected the component content in Dalbergiae Odoriferae Lignum by HPLC fingerprint and the multi-component determination method. HPLC analysis was performed on the Agilent ZORBAX SB-C_(18) column(4.6 mm×250 mm, 5 μm). Acetonitrile-0.5% phosphoric acid aqueous solution with gradient elution was employed as the mobile phase. The flow rate was 1.0 mL·min~(-1) and the column temperature was maintained at 30 ℃. The detection wavelength was 210 nm and the sample volume was 10 μL. The similarity of 18 batches of Dalbergiae Odoriferae Lignum was 0.343-0.779, indicating that there were great differences between different batches of Dalbergiae Odoriferae Lignum. Eighteen common peaks were identified, including eight flavonoids such as liquiritigenin and latifolin. The mass fractions of liquiritigenin, luteolin, naringenin, isoliquiritigenin, formononetin, dalbergin, latifolin, and pinocembrin were in the ranges of 0.134 1%-0.495 2%, 0.028 2%-0.167 0%, 0.016 3%-0.591 3%, 0.053 5%-0.188 0%, 0.142 4%-0.640 1%, 0.068 0%-0.590 7%, 0.003 2%-1.980 7%, and 0.009 6%-0.740 2%, respectively. Eighteen batches of Dalbergiae Odoriferae Lignum were divided into three categories by cluster analysis and eight differential components in Dalbergiae Odoriferae Lignum were marked by partial least-squares discriminant analysis(PLS-DA). The cumulative variance contribution rate was 90.5%. The HPLC fingerprint combined with the multi-component determination method for Dalbergiae Odoriferae Lignum is easy in operation and accurate in results, with good repeatability and reliability. The quality of Dalbergiae Odoriferae Lignum can be evaluated and analyzed by the PLS-DA model. This study is expected to provide a reference for the quality control and clinical application of Dalbergiae Odoriferae Lignum.

ABSTRACT

Drying is one of the most common unit operations in the production of traditional Chinese medicine. The drying process of traditional Chinese medicine materials is accompanied by the dynamic reduction of water content. As a key index to determine the end of the drying process, the moisture content of materials plays an important role in improving drying efficiency and saving energy. Recently, the drying process of traditional Chinese medicine is mostly monitored by offline detection, and there are few reports of online moisture detection applications. In this paper, the principle and current application of online inspection technology for the material drying process in different fields were introduced. The significance of online detection technology in drying of traditional Chinese medicine was also analyzed. Meanwhile, the application prospect of online detection technology in the field of drying of traditional Chinese medicine was predicted. In response to urgent transformation and upgrading of the traditional Chinese medicine manufacturing industry, the application of online moisture detection technology is expected to be a key breakthrough in the intelligent upgrading of traditional Chinese medicine drying technology and equipment.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the results of surgical treatment on post-pancreaticoduodenectomy hemorrhage (PPH).Methods:The clinical data of 47 patients who developed PPH after pancreaticduodenectomy treated with surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China from January 2012 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. The operative indications, bleeding site, intraoperative treatment and prognosis were analyzed. Results:There were 33 males and 14 females, aged 42 to 81 (mean 60) years. Early hemorrhage occurred in 17 patients and delayed hemorrhage in 30 patients. A total of 35 patients developed intraperitoneal hemorrhage, 7 gastrointestinal hemorrhage and 5 intraperitoneal combined with gastrointestinal hemorrhage. The indications for surgery were hemodynamic instability ( n=31) and other treatment failure ( n=10). In 17 patients (36.2%), hemorrhage was associated with blood vessels. In 14 patients (29.8%), hemorrhage was associated with anastomotic stoma, while in 6 patients (12.8%) with gastrointestinal hemorrhage, the bleeding was non-anastomotic related. Early hemorrhage was mainly vascular related, and the surgical treatment mainly consisted of suture hemostasis at the bleeding site combined with abdominal irrigation and drainage. Delayed hemorrhage was most commonly anastomotic associated, and its management should consider avoiding anastomotic fistula formation after treatment. The operation time of early hemorrhage was significantly shorter than that of delayed hemorrhage [(136.0±37.5) min vs. (191.1±73.8)min, t=-3.289, P<0.05]. The incidence of re-hemorrhage was 23.4% (11 patients) and 9 patients died with a mortality rate of 19.1%. The re-hemorrhage and mortality rates of early-stage bleeding were significantly lower than those of delayed bleeding [5.9%(1/17) vs. 33.3%(10/30), 0 vs. 30.0%(9/30), P<0.05]. Conclusions:Surgical treatment of early hemorrhage had better results than that of delayed bleeding. Patients with anastomotic related hemorrhage were at high-risks of postoperative death after surgery. Recurrent bleeding was the main cause of death.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the feasibility and clinical results of absorbable antibacterial calcium sulfate combined with tissue flaps in the treatment of traumatic calcaneal osteomyelitis (CO) secondary to skin and soft tissue defects in children. Methods:From January 2007 to August 2020, 44 cases of children with heel skin and soft tissue defects associated with traumatic CO were treated and followed up effectively in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical University.Among them, 17 cases were treated with absorbable calcium sulfate cement combined with tissue flaps as the calcium sulfate group, and 27 cases were treated with antibiotic polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) bead combined with tissue flaps as the membrane induction group.A comparison was drawn on the therapeutic effect, recurrence rate of postoperative infection, postoperative ankle mobility, number of operations, total length of hospital stays and hospitalization expenses between both groups. Results:The average follow-up time was 10.7 months in the calcium sulfate cement group and 9.3 months in the membrane induction group. All flaps were effective except for 3 cases who presented with small necrosis on the distal end of the sural neurovascular flaps. The recurrence rate of postoperative infection and the hospitalization expenses in the calcium sulfate group were lower than those in the membrane induction group, but the differences were not statically significant (all P>0.05). The postoperative ankle mobility [(63.6±9.3)°], number of operations [2(1.0, 2.0) times] and total length of hospital stay [6.1(4.5, 7.4) weeks] of the calcium sulfate group were significantly lower than those of the membrane induction group [(57.7±9.5)°, 2(2.0, 3.0) times, 7.0(5.0, 9.0) weeks], the difference were statistically significant (all P<0.05). Severe CO may cause structural damage to calcaneal tubercle or insertion site of achilles tendon, but the active plantar flexion function of ankles will be good despite the decrease in strength. Conclusions:The effect of absorbable antibacterial calcium sulfate cement combined with tissue flaps in the treatment of traumatic CO in children is favorable, and the number of operations, length of hospital stays and hospitalization expenses are relatively less compared with PMMA cement combined with tissue flaps.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#Segmentectomy has gradually become one of the standard surgical methods for small pulmonary nodules with early lung cancer on imaging. This study aimed to investigate the perioperative outcomes of patients who underwent uniport video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) segmentectomy for identifying the intersegmental boundary line (IBL) by the near-infrared fluorescence imaging with intravenous indocyanine green (ICG) method or the modified inflation-deflation (MID) method and assess the feasibility and effectiveness of the ICG fluorescence (ICGF)-based method.@*METHODS@#We retrospectively analyzed the perioperative data in total 198 consecutive patients who underwent uniport VATS segmentectomy between February 2018 and August 2020. With the guidance of preoperative intelligent/interactive qualitative and quantitative analysis-three dimensional (IQQA-3D), the targeted segment structures could be precisely identified and dissected, and then the IBL was confirmed by ICGF-based method or MID method. Clinical effectiveness and postoperative complications of the two methods were evaluated.@*RESULTS@#An IBL was visible in 98% of patients by the ICGF-based group, even with the low-doses of ICG. The ICGF-based group was significantly associated with the shorter IBL clear presentation time [(23.59±4.47) s vs (1,026.80±318.34) s] (P0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#The ICGF-based method could highly accurately identify the IBL and make anatomical segmentectomy easier and faster, and therefore has the potential to be a feasible and effective technique to facilitate the quality of uniport VATS segmentectomy.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the protective effect of Euphorbia helioscopia alcohol extract on lipopolysaccharide (LPS) -induced acute lung injury in mice and explore its possible mechanism. Method:The 50 Balb/c male mice were randomly divided into 5 groups, including normal group, model group, dexamethasone group (1.5 mg·kg-1), E. helioscopia alcohol extracts group (7.5,3.75 g·kg-1). Except for the normal group, the other groups used intranasal instillation of LPS to establish a model of acute lung injury in mice. The type and number of inflammatory cells in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were detected by automatic blood analyzer and Wright-Giemsa composite staining. The lung tissue damage was observed by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. The contents of the inflammatory factors tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in BALF were detected by flow cytometry. The protein expressions of nuclear factor kappa-B p65(NF-κB p65), phospho-NF-κB p65 (p-NF-κB p65), inhibitor of NF-κBα (IκBα), phospho-IκBα (p-IκBα) in NF-κB pathway and c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), phospho-JNK (p-JNK), p38 protein (p38), phospho-p38 (p-p38), extracellular regulated protein kinases (ERK1/2), phospho-ERK1/2 (p-ERK1/2) in mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway were determined by Western blot. Result:Compared with normal control group, the lung tissue of the model group showed obvious damage, in which a large number of inflammatory cells infiltrated, and the integrity of the alveoli was destroyed. Inflammatory factors TNF-α, IL-6 in BALF and p-NF-κB p65, p-JNK, p-p38, p-ERK protein expression levels in lung tissue were significantly increased (P<0.01). Compared with model group, the pathological damage of lung tissue in mice with high dose of E. helioscopia alcohol extract and dexamethasone positive group was significantly alleviated. The levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in BALF and the expression levels of p-NF-κB p65, p-JNK, p-p38 and p-ERK1/2 protein in lung tissue were significantly down-regulated (P<0.01). Conclusion:The E. helioscopia alcohol extract has a protective effect on LPS-induced acute lung injury in mice, its mechanism may be related to the regulation of the NF-κB/MAPK signaling pathway.

ABSTRACT

Vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) is frequently used in abdominal surgeries. However, relevant guidelines are rare. Chinese Trauma Surgeon Association organized a committee composed of 28 experts across China in July 2017, aiming to provide an evidence-based recommendation for the application of VSD in abdominal surgeries. Eleven questions regarding the use of VSD in abdominal surgeries were addressed: (1) which type of materials should be respectively chosen for the intraperitoneal cavity, retroperitoneal cavity and superficial incisions? (2) Can VSD be preventively used for a high-risk abdominal incision with primary suture? (3) Can VSD be used in severely contaminated/infected abdominal surgical sites? (4) Can VSD be used for temporary abdominal cavity closure under some special conditions such as severe abdominal trauma, infection, liver transplantation and intra-abdominal volume increment in abdominal compartment syndrome? (5) Can VSD be used in abdominal organ inflammation, injury, or postoperative drainage? (6) Can VSD be used in the treatment of intestinal fistula and pancreatic fistula? (7) Can VSD be used in the treatment of intra-abdominal and extra-peritoneal abscess? (8) Can VSD be used in the treatment of abdominal wall wounds, wound cavity, and defects? (9) Does VSD increase the risk of bleeding? (10) Does VSD increase the risk of intestinal wall injury? (11) Does VSD increase the risk of peritoneal adhesion? Focusing on these questions, evidence-based recommendations were given accordingly. VSD was strongly recommended regarding the questions 2-4. Weak recommendations were made regarding questions 1 and 5-11. Proper use of VSD in abdominal surgeries can lower the risk of infection in abdominal incisions with primary suture, treat severely contaminated/infected surgical sites and facilitate temporary abdominal cavity closure.

ABSTRACT

Dalbergiae Odoriferae Lignum is derived from heartwood of Dalbergia odorifera, which is national Ⅱ level of rare and endangered protective plants in China. Its resources are scarce and its price is high. In order to find substitutes of D. odorifera, the chemical constituents of 70% ethanol extract of heartwood of D. catifolia were systematically studied by using silica gel,Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, and semi-preparative HPLC. Sixteen neoflavanoids were isolated and identified as eight dalbergiphenols( 1-8),three dalbergiones( 9-11),two dalbergins( 12,13),two benzophenones( 14,15) and one other type neoflavanoids( 16) based on spectroscopic data analyses and/or comparing the spectroscopic data with those in literature. Among them, compounds 3,7 and 11 were isolated from the genus Dalbergia for the first time, and compounds 2,4-6,8,14 and 15 were isolated from the D. latifolia for the first time. Ten neoflavonoids were both discovered from D. latifolia and D. odorifera.

ABSTRACT

This study was designed to explore the antipyretic mechanism of Pueraria radix. The method of network pharmacology was used to determine the known ingredients corresponding to Pueraria radix, predict the drug-related gene /protein targets, and analyze the interplay between key ingredients and targets. Biological Information Annotation Databases (DAVID) was used to enrich the biological processes and pathways. The result of network analysis was validated by molecular docking. It was found that 49 active ingredients of Pueraria radix not only regulate 21 targets (e.g. PTGS2, EGFR), but also affect 11 biological processes (e.g. oxidation-reduction process, prostaglandin synthesis, positive regulation of fever generation and inflammatory response) and 7 metabolic pathways (arachidonic acid metabolism, serotonergic synapse and HIF-1, et al). Molecular docking results showed that more than 65% of the active ingredients could be well docked with key targets, and the relevant literatures indicated that the active components could inhibit the expression of PTGS2, which means the result has a high reliability. These results indicated that Pueraria radix may carry its pyretic action via a "multi-ingredients-multi-targets-multi-pathways" mode, which provides a scientific basis for further research and drug development.

ABSTRACT

As known, simultaneous determination of various chemical indicators is one of the future trends in quality control of traditional Chinese medicines because of the extremely complex chemical compositions. This project is to screen the quality markers that can accurately control the quality of the Bufonis Venenum by exploring the intrinsic correlation of components. In this study, venom of Bufo bufo gargarizans from 17 different sources were used as research samples, and the contents of 7 bufogenin were determined by HPLC-DAD. Then, the data obtained were analyzed by Spearman correlation analysis and principal component analysis( PCA). In addition,a stepwise regression analysis was used to establish a predictive model for the contents of the seven bufogenin components( independent variable) and the total contents of the bufogenin( dependent variable). The results indicated that there is a significant positive correlation between the contents of telocinobufagin and cinobufotalin, and there is a significant positive correlation between the contents of bufalin, cinobufagin and resibufogenin. In contrast, the contents of telocinobufagin and cinobufotalin are negatively correlated with the contents of bufalin, cinobufagin and resibufogenin. However, the correlation between gamabufotalin and bufotalin and other components are not obvious. Furthermore, further study found that there is a correlation between the sum of the contents of bufalin, cinobufagin and telocinobufagin and the total contents of the bufogenin. In fact, the application of bufalin, cinobufagin and telocinobufagin as the quality control indicators of the Bufonis Venenum can better reflect the quality characteristics of the Bufonis Venenum compared with the previous quality control indicators. The conclusions will provide a reference for the revision of the quality standards of the Bufonis Venenum.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To establish a method for the determination of fractal dimension of ethanol precipitation flocs in two kinds of root medicinal herbs (Astragali Radix and Isatidis Radix). Method: The ethanol-precipitated flocs of Astragali Radix and Isatidis Radix were taken as the research objects. Firstly, the original microscopic images of the ethanol precipitation flocs were binarized by Ostu algorithm. Secondly, the influence of sampling volume, dilution multiple, image magnification ratio and number of image acquisition sites on fractal dimension was investigated using perimeter-area method. Result: The ethanol precipitation flocs of Astragali Radix and Isatidis Radix had fractal characteristics. At the same time, the stable and reliable fractal dimension of the flocs could be obtained when the sampling volume was 600-800 μL, the sample was diluted to 5-20 times, the microscopic image was enlarged to 200 times or 400 times, and four different image acquisition sites were selected. Conclusion: The established method is stable and feasible, which can provide reference for the fractal theory of ethanol precipitation flocs of root medicinal herbs.
